Lectures & Venues

About me:

I am a research associate at Sorbonne University, where I am a member of the ACIDE team at Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics (ISIR) working on latent generative modeling and human-robot interactions. Previously, I was a doctoral researcher in the BD team at LIP6 Computer Science Laboratory of Sorbonne University, and a doctoral fellow at the Sorbonne Center for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI), where I completed my doctorate in data mining and information retrieval. Alongside my PhD, I pursued a post-master's degree in Entrepreneurial Project Management at CELSA, further broadening my managerial skills. I hold an M.Sc. degree (Honors) in Computer Science from the University of Lyon (UdL) and a B.Sc. degree in Control Systems from Shiraz University.
My research interests lie at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on developing general-purpose, multimodal and multitask visual models. My work aims to move beyond conventional narrow and passive vision systems toward models capable of perception and decision-making within active agents interacting with the real world. This includes integrating advances in language modeling, latent generative modeling, user modeling, and topic modeling to enable richer representations and more adaptive, context-aware behavior.
During my graduate studies, I also had the opportunity to collaborate with and conduct visiting research at prestigious institutions such as Orange Labs, Cornell University, McGill University, and Microsoft AI Research in Amsterdam, enriching my experience in both industry and academia through interdisciplinary research.
Prospective students: If you are interested in joining the ACIDE research group, please email me (rahimi AT isir.upmc.fr) with your CV. See below for research focus areas.

Literary work

Beyond my academic work, I am also a literary translator. I have translated four books from English into Persian and published several critical articles in prestigious magazines in Iran.
